World Premiere Orchestration:

Cuatro sones de la tierra  (Jack Délano/Guarionex Morales Matos)

Cuatro sones -- Immigrant Voices copy.png

June 27, 2026

Litha Symphony has commissioned a new orchestration of Jack Délano's Cuatro sones de la tierra, as part of its 2026 gala, Immigrant Voices.

The program will also feature the triumphant optimism of John Williams’s Liberty Fanfare, the vibrant cultural landscapes of Soon Hee Newbold, and Dvořák’s beloved New World Symphony.

Jack Délano is the quintessential immigrant, having found, first, opportunity through Franklin Delano Roosevelt and, later, home in his adopted island-nation of Puerto Rico.

Morales' orchestration expands on the tropical magical realism aural landscape depicted by Délano, cementing its musical position among fellow greats.

Al menos cantos: Songs of Jack Délano charts number 2 on Traditional Classical on Billboard

June 29, 2022
In its first week of sales Al menos cantos has made it to second place in its category.

Puerto Rican classical music has not

been seen often on the Billboard charts, so it’s a historic accomplishment for singer Laura Virella and her debut album.

The project appears just behind best-seller Yo-Yo Ma and above the Berlin Philharmonic in what the mezzo-soprano calls an “unexpected wonderful surprise.”

The accomplishment is significant, Virella adds, for “the purpose of the album was to make Jack Délano a household name internationally.” The Billboard charts are well respected and publicized around the globe. Loyal fans of this genre will now come across a name they had not heard before.

Now streaming on Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, iTunes and Apple Music. Limited-run CDs available through Lexicon Classics.
